The last vistors - part 2

Robert's and Trisha's visit was filled with football, seeing the sights, and eating.

His first night in Barcelona, Robert went to see Espanyol (the other Barcelona team) play Real Madrid in their new stadium. Two days before they left, all four of us we went to a Barca game at Camp Nou - Barca put on a good show for us, beating a pretty good Athletico Madrid side 5-2; Messi scored twice and assisted on a third goal.

We did plenty of walking around Barcelona - it also was a chance for Pat and I to revisit many sights before we left. We walked past Gaudi's Casa Batllo (Robert and Trisha later took the tour).
At the Hospital Sant Pau Robert borrowed the camera for a picture of one of the pavilions from an entrance to the underground passage. And for a candid, parental portrait.
The upper part of Park Guell was open for the first time since last fall; we could walk all the way up to the cross above the park. Robert had already been there by himself early one morning.
Pointing out the sights.

Posing at the base of the cross.

And at the fountain.

Their visit also gave one more opportunity to visit, and take pictures of, Santa Maria del Mar. The vaulting at the east end, behind the altar.
Their last night in Barcelona, Robert and Trish went to a concert at the Palau Musica Catalana, where they got a good picture of the hall.
And themselves.

Robert wanted to try as many good Barcelona restaurants as possible - so we ate well during his visit.
We went to old favorites: tapas at Ciutat Contal.

Of course we had to go to Can Robert so we could introduce Robert to Robert.

We had another fabulous dinner at Alkimia, and lunch at Goliard's in nearby Gracia.

We finally ate (more than once) at a place in the old city we had been meaning to try - Cafe de la Academia. As you can see, we had a lively time there.

Dinner their last night in Barcelona was at our flat, beginning with cava and pica-pica of Spanish jamon and cheese and pimientos padron.

Then Robert and Trisha went on Paris, where Robert was meeting up with a couple of his 1992 classmates from the Ecole Active Bilingue.
